Early Life

Cain Velasquez was born in Salinas, California on July 28, 1982, to his parents, Efrain and Isabel Velasquez. His father Efrain, Had arrived in the United States illegally as an immigrant from Sonora, Mexico, where he met Isabel, a native of the United States.

They began dating and later married, allowing Efrain to become a US citizen. The Velasquez family had three children: Efrain Jr., Adela, and Cain Velasquez. Velasquez was born and raised in Yuma, Arizona.

He graduated from Kofa High School, where he wrestled for four years and compiled a record of 110–10, winning the 5A Arizona Wrestling Championship twice.

Cain also spent three years playing football. He was captain of both his wrestling and football teams as a senior. He was a linebacker when he was a football player.
