Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, New York, on July 15, 1956, and an Italian origin with his mother’s grandparents was from Bari, and his paternal grandparents were from Piacenza and Bobbio. He was brought up as a Catholic. After learning about Jimi Hendrix’s passing at the age of 14, he was motivated to start playing the guitar.
